Malpensa Airport to Livigno – Private Ski Transfer
Up the Valtellina and over the Foscagno Pass to Livigno — nearly four hours, skis and luggage included.
From €440
Secure card payment — instant confirmation
Livigno is one of the most remote resorts in the Italian Alps, and getting there from Malpensa is a proper journey: about 233 minutes along Lake Como, up the Valtellina to Bormio and over the Foscagno Pass, the only road into Livigno from Italy that does not cross Switzerland. There is no railway; buses involve several changes. The private car takes you from arrivals to your hotel in one go, with skis and boot bags on board. In winter the vehicle is equipped for snow, as mountain roads in Lombardy require, and timings follow road conditions. Livigno is also a duty-free zone, with customs checks when you leave. One fixed price per vehicle, luggage and tolls included — including the Munt la Schera tunnel when the route runs through Switzerland.
- No railway to Livigno: one car from the arrivals hall to your hotel
- Via Bormio and the Foscagno Pass, open all year, without crossing Switzerland
- Vehicles equipped for snow; timings adapted to winter road conditions
- Vans for ski groups and families, with room for skis and boot bags
- Meet & greet at arrivals with a name board, flight tracked
- Fixed price per vehicle, luggage and tolls included

Livigno
About the destination
Livigno lies at over 1,800 metres in a long, high valley close to the Swiss border, and for centuries it was cut off for much of the winter. Today it is one of Italy's best-known ski resorts, with two ski areas — Carosello 3000 and Mottolino — facing each other across the valley, and a snowpark that has made it a reference for freestyle skiing and snowboarding: in February 2026 it hosted the freestyle and snowboard events of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Livigno is also an extra-customs zone, outside the EU VAT and excise area, which explains the shops along its main street. In summer the same valley becomes a destination for mountain biking, road cycling and hiking around the Lago di Livigno.
About the route
Road, traffic and timing
From Malpensa the transfer heads east to Lake Como and follows it north to Colico, then runs up the Valtellina past Sondrio and Tirano to Bormio. From there the road climbs over the Foscagno Pass, at about 2,300 metres, and descends through Trepalle to Livigno: 228 km, about 233 minutes in good conditions. Tolls, fuel and airport parking are included in the fixed price.
Travel tips
Know before you go
- Saturdays are ski-week changeover day: the Valtellina road is at its busiest
- Keep receipts for what you buy in Livigno: they help at the customs check on the way out
- Livigno is above 1,800 metres — take the first day gently and drink plenty of water
What to visit
Nearby attractions
- Carosello 3000 — the ski area on the western side of the valley
- Mottolino — the ski area and snowpark on the eastern side
- Lago di Livigno — the reservoir at the head of the valley
- Bormio — thermal baths and historic centre on the way
- Stelvio National Park — high mountain scenery around Bormio
When to visit
Seasonal notes & events
Livigno's ski season usually runs from late November to spring, among the longest in Italy thanks to its altitude. In winter the journey depends heavily on the weather: snowfall, chain controls and Saturday traffic can add considerable time, and we always build in a margin. In summer the valley fills with cyclists and hikers, and the roads are much quicker.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private transfer from Malpensa to Livigno cost?+
The price is fixed and per vehicle, not per passenger: from €440 with a Standard Sedan (up to 3 passengers), €515 with a Mercedes E-Class, €600 with a Mercedes V-Class (up to 7). Round trip from €835, with 10% off the return leg. Luggage, tolls, flight monitoring and airport meet & greet are included; any night or holiday surcharge is shown in the quote before you book.
How long is the drive from Malpensa to Livigno?+
About 233 minutes for 228 km in good conditions. In winter, snow on the passes and Saturday changeover traffic in the Valtellina can add time: we plan the pick-up with a margin.
Which road do you take?+
Normally the Italian route: along Lake Como, up the Valtellina to Bormio and over the Foscagno Pass, open all year. Alternatively, Livigno can be reached from Switzerland through the Munt la Schera tunnel, a single-lane toll tunnel with alternating traffic; when we use it, the toll is included in the fixed price.
Is the car equipped for snow?+
Yes. On mountain roads in Lombardy winter tyres or chains on board are mandatory in the cold season, and the vehicles on this route comply. On heavy-snow days the driver may need to fit chains on the passes.
What does it mean that Livigno is a duty-free zone?+
Livigno is part of Italy but outside the EU customs territory for VAT and excise. When you leave, customs at the Foscagno Pass can check what you are carrying: goods above the duty-free allowances must be declared. Keep receipts for your purchases.
Do I need documents for Livigno?+
If we travel on the Italian route via the Foscagno, the usual identity documents for Italy are enough. If the route passes through Switzerland, the rules for entering Switzerland apply: carry a passport or valid ID card.
