Secure card payment — instant confirmation
Many visitors assume Lake Como means a trip into Milan first. It does not: Como is 51 km from Malpensa and the drive takes about 51 minutes, cutting across the countryside north of Milan on the Pedemontana A36 and the A9, or the A8 and A9 when traffic suggests it. By train the same trip means at least one change and a walk with your bags at the end. Your driver meets you in arrivals with a name board, and at Como takes you to your hotel or to the lakefront pier for the Navigazione Laghi boats and hydrofoils up the lake. The walled historic centre is a limited-traffic zone: tell us your hotel and the driver will stop at its door if access is permitted, or at the nearest legal point. Fixed price per vehicle, luggage and tolls included.
- About 51 minutes from Malpensa, with no detour through Milan
- Meet & greet in arrivals at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2
- Drop-off at your hotel, or at the pier for boats along the lake
- We check in advance how close the car can get to hotels in the limited-traffic centre
- Fixed price per vehicle, luggage and motorway tolls included
- Driver waits up to 60 minutes after landing, free of charge

Como
About the destination
Como sits at the southern tip of the lake's western branch, a compact city of silk, Romanesque churches and lakeside villas. The cathedral, built over almost four centuries and crowned by Filippo Juvarra's dome, faces the striped Broletto in Piazza Duomo. Along the shore, the Tempio Voltiano honours Alessandro Volta, who was born here, and the promenade leads west to the neoclassical Villa Olmo and its gardens. Since 1894 a funicular has climbed in a few minutes from the lakefront to Brunate, the village 'balcony' above the city with views down the lake and, on clear days, to the Alps. From the piers by Piazza Cavour, boats run to every village on the lake.
About the route
Road, traffic and timing
From Malpensa the transfer takes the SS336 to the A8 and then heads north-east to the A9 Lainate–Como–Chiasso, either on the A36 Pedemontana (a free-flow toll motorway linking the A8 and the A9) or along the A8 to the Lainate junction. It leaves the motorway at Como and reaches the lakefront in about 51 minutes in total. Tolls are included in the fixed price.
Travel tips
Know before you go
- Tell us your hotel name: the limited-traffic zone decides where exactly the car can stop
- Take the Como–Brunate funicular at sunset for the classic view down the lake
- If you plan to visit the villas by boat, the piers are in front of Piazza Cavour

When to visit
Seasonal notes & events
Como is lively from April to October, with the lakeside promenade at its best in late spring and September. On summer weekends the roads around the lake and into the city fill up from mid-morning, so arriving early helps. In December the city hosts a Christmas market and light displays, and it stays open all year — unlike some lakeside villages further north, where many hotels close for the winter.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private transfer from Malpensa to Como cost?+
The price is fixed and per vehicle, not per passenger: from €105 with a Standard Sedan (up to 3 passengers), €125 with a Mercedes E-Class, €150 with a Mercedes V-Class (up to 7). Round trip from €200, with 10% off the return leg. Luggage, tolls, flight monitoring and airport meet & greet are included; any night or holiday surcharge is shown in the quote before you book.
How long does it take to drive from Malpensa to Como?+
About 51 minutes for 51 km, across the north of the Milan area on the A36 Pedemontana and the A9, or the A8 and A9. The journey does not go through Milan.
Can the car take me inside Como's historic centre?+
The walled centre is a limited-traffic zone (ZTL). Hotels inside it can often register guest vehicles for access; tell us your hotel when booking and the driver will stop at the entrance where permitted, or at the closest point allowed.
Can you drop me at the boat pier instead of a hotel?+
Yes. If you are continuing by Navigazione Laghi boat or hydrofoil to a village up the lake, the driver can leave you at the lakefront by the piers. For Bellagio, Tremezzo or Menaggio, compare the boat with a transfer straight to the village: with luggage the car is usually simpler.
Is it better than the train?+
The train from Malpensa to Como involves at least one change, and Como's stations are a walk or a taxi from most hotels. A private car goes from the arrivals hall to your hotel in under an hour, with the luggage in the boot.
Will my driver wait if my flight is delayed?+
Yes. The flight is tracked in real time and the driver waits up to 60 minutes after the actual landing, at no extra charge.
