Many cruise passengers fly into Milan and sail from Genoa, a year-round home port for MSC Cruises. Linate is the better Milan airport for it: being south-east of the city, it puts you on the A7 Milan–Genoa motorway quickly, about 154 km and two hours to the cruise terminal. Your driver meets you at arrivals with a name board, loads the cruise luggage and drops you at the Stazione Marittima, the passenger terminal at Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria, not at the separate ferry terminal further west, which is a common mix-up. The last section of the A7 crosses the Apennines on a winding stretch often affected by roadworks, so we plan the pick-up with a margin for boarding time. One fixed price per vehicle, motorway tolls included.
- About two hours from Linate to the cruise terminal on the A7
- Drop-off at the Stazione Marittima, not the ferry terminal
- Pick-up timed around your ship's boarding window, with a margin for the Apennine section
- Room for cruise luggage: vans for families and groups
- Fixed price per vehicle, motorway tolls included
- Flight monitored, driver waits up to 60 minutes after landing

Porto di Genova (terminal crociere)
About the destination
Genoa's Stazione Marittima stands in the heart of the old port, a short walk from the city centre. The historic terminal at Ponte dei Mille and the berths at Ponte Andrea Doria handle the big cruise ships; MSC Cruises is by far the largest operator, using Genoa as a home port all year round. If you arrive early, the city repays a few hours: the Palazzi dei Rolli on Via Garibaldi are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval caruggi lead down to the Porto Antico redesigned by Renzo Piano, and the Aquarium of Genoa is one of the largest in Europe. Note that Costa Cruises sails mainly from Savona, about 50 km further west: check your ticket for the exact port before you book.
About the route
Road, traffic and timing
From Linate the transfer joins the A7 Milan–Genoa motorway via the Milan ring roads, crosses the Po plain to Serravalle Scrivia and then the Apennines, leaving the motorway at Genova Ovest, the exit closest to the port. Distance 154 km, about 2 hours in normal traffic. Motorway tolls are included in the fixed price.
Travel tips
Know before you go
- Have your cruise documents and luggage tags ready in the car: the drop-off area at the terminal is busy
- Planning a night in Genoa first? We can drop you at your hotel and collect you on embarkation day
- Serravalle Designer Outlet is right by the A7: you can add it as an intermediate stop in the booking form, and the quote is recalculated before you pay

When to visit
Seasonal notes & events
Genoa's cruise season runs all year, with the busiest embarkation days from spring to autumn. Summer Saturdays and Sundays combine cruise traffic with holiday traffic to the Riviera on the A7: allow more time. In winter fog on the plain and occasional snow on the Apennine pass can slow the motorway.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private transfer from Linate to the port of Genoa cost?+
The price is fixed and per vehicle, not per passenger: from €300 with a Standard Sedan (up to 3 passengers), €355 with a Mercedes E-Class, €410 with a Mercedes V-Class (up to 7). Round trip from €570, with 10% off the return leg. Luggage, tolls, flight monitoring and airport meet & greet are included; any night or holiday surcharge is shown in the quote before you book.
How long does it take from Linate to Genoa's cruise terminal?+
About two hours for 154 km via the A7. Roadworks on the Apennine section between Serravalle and Genoa are frequent: we always add a margin before your boarding time.
Can I fly into Linate on the morning of my cruise?+
It is possible but tight: add baggage reclaim, two hours of driving and your ship's check-in deadline. Arriving the day before, or on an early flight with a generous margin, is much safer.
Where exactly will you drop me?+
At the Stazione Marittima, the cruise passenger terminal at Ponte dei Mille or Ponte Andrea Doria, according to your ship. The ferries to Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily use a different terminal: tell us the ship's name and we take you to the right one.
My cruise leaves from Savona: is it the same?+
No. Savona, Costa Cruises' main base, is a separate port further west along the coast. Tell us the port printed on your ticket when booking.
Can you pick me up at the end of the cruise?+
Yes. We meet you outside the terminal on disembarkation day and drive you to Linate, Malpensa or your Milan hotel.
