About the destination
Bellagio occupies the point of land where Lake Como divides into its two southern branches, with water on three sides. Its old centre rises from the harbour in stepped lanes such as Salita Serbelloni, full of small shops, silk boutiques and trattorias. On the hill above, the park of Villa Serbelloni, today the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center, can be visited on guided tours in season; along the shore the gardens of Villa Melzi, created in the early 19th century, stretch towards San Giovanni. The Romanesque basilica of San Giacomo stands in the upper square, and Punta Spartivento marks the exact point where the lake splits.
