Liguria
Port of Genoa – Cruise Transfers to and from Milan
The Stazione Marittima in the heart of the city, two hours from Linate and Malpensa.
Overview
Genoa is Liguria's main cruise port and the third in Italy: in the 2025 season it handled around 1.63 million cruise passengers. Ships berth at the Stazione Marittima, in the old harbour beside Principe station, on two piers — Ponte dei Mille, with the historic terminal building, and Ponte Andrea Doria — and this is where MSC Cruises' Mediterranean itineraries begin, alongside ships from Costa, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Explora Journeys. For passengers flying in, the issue is distance: Genoa has its own airport, but most long-haul and low-cost flights land in Milan. From Linate to the terminal is 154 km, about two hours; from Malpensa 201 km, two hours twenty, dropping down to the sea on the A7 or the A26. Embarkation day is the one day when the margin is not negotiable — which is why the first thing we ask for is your ship and sailing time.

Where to find your driver
On embarkation day we calculate the pick-up backwards from boarding close, with a margin for motorway traffic and for getting into the city. Your driver drops you at the entrance of the terminal shown on your cruise documents — Ponte dei Mille or Ponte Andrea Doria — where you hand your luggage to the port staff. On disembarkation, which is staggered, we agree a time and the driver waits at the terminal exit with a board showing your surname. Do not confuse the Stazione Marittima with the Ferry Terminal a little further west: they are separate gates.

Frequently asked questions
How long from Malpensa to the port of Genoa?+
About two hours twenty for 201 km in clear traffic. From Linate it is 154 km and about two hours. If your flight lands on embarkation day, tell us the time and we will check together that the margin is enough.
Which terminal does my Genoa cruise leave from?+
It depends on the ship: Ponte dei Mille or Ponte Andrea Doria, both at the Stazione Marittima. The pier is on your cruise documents — send it with your booking and we drop you at the right gate.
What time should I reach the port on embarkation day?+
Boarding normally closes one to two hours before sailing, and the cruise line often assigns a check-in slot. Tell us the ship and sailing time and we work out the pick-up from Milan.
Can you collect us at disembarkation and take us to the airport?+
Yes: we agree the time from your disembarkation slot and the driver waits at the terminal exit. For a same-day flight from Malpensa or Linate, allow at least five or six hours between leaving the ship and take-off.
Is there room for cruise luggage?+
Tell us how many people and suitcases when you book: with the luggage of a one- or two-week cruise, a van is the sensible choice from three or four passengers.
