Villa Carlotta and the Tremezzina
Gardens that burst into azaleas and rhododendrons every spring.
Tremezzo is the heart of Tremezzina, the municipality formed in 2014 by merging Tremezzo, Lenno, Mezzegra and Ossuccio: a south-facing stretch of coast sheltered by mountains, with a mild climate that has nurtured lemons, camellias and villas. Here stands Villa Carlotta, built at the end of the seventeenth century and now a museum with an extensive botanical garden; a little to the south, on the Lavedo headland, is the FAI's Villa del Balbianello. The Grand Hotel Tremezzo, opened in 1910, looks straight across to Bellagio.

- The lakeside road is busy in summer: for a flight, book your departure with a margin.
