A balcony over the Borromean Islands
On Lake Maggiore, facing Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori.
Stresa is the historic resort on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, grown in the nineteenth century around grand hotels facing the Borromean Gulf and its islands: Isola Bella with the Borromeo palace and terraced gardens, Isola Madre with its botanical garden, Isola dei Pescatori with its fishing village. It is around fifty minutes from Malpensa — less than central Milan — and in summer hosts the Stresa Festival of classical music.
