Breuil-Cervinia

Beneath the Matterhorn

High-altitude skiing on the Italian side, with slopes linked to Zermatt.

Breuil-Cervinia is the ski resort at the head of the Valtournenche, in the Aosta Valley, at around 2,000 metres at the foot of the Matterhorn. Its ski area, linked to Zermatt's, climbs to the Plateau Rosa glacier, where you can ski in summer too; since 2023 the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing lets you travel by cable car from Cervinia to Zermatt without coming down to the valley. From Malpensa it is motorway as far as Châtillon, then the road climbs the valley: about two hours twenty.

Practical tips

  • Skis and boots travel with you: tell us how many ski bags when you book, so we send the right vehicle.
  • In winter the last stretch from Châtillon may require chains: we allow a margin on your return flight time.
