Port of La Spezia – Cruise Transfers to and from Milan

The Gulf of Poets and the gateway to the Cinque Terre, two and a half hours from Milan.

Yearly cruise passengers735K

Overview

La Spezia looks out over the Gulf of Poets, between Portovenere and Lerici, and has become one of the busiest cruise ports on the Tyrrhenian coast: the 2025 season counted around 735,000 cruise passengers. It is above all a port of call, chosen by the cruise lines — Costa, MSC, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Celebrity — for its closeness to the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for excursions to Pisa and Florence. Ships berth at the Largo Fiorillo terminal and at Molo Garibaldi, a few minutes' walk from the centre. From Milan the distance is what matters: 221 km from the Duomo, about two and a half hours in clear traffic, and the same from Linate; from Malpensa over three hours. If you embark or disembark here with a flight to or from Milan, a private transfer is the connection between airport and quayside with no changes.

Where to find your driver

On embarkation day we work the pick-up backwards from your check-in time, with a margin for the A1 and the A15 over the Cisa pass, the road down to the sea. Your driver drops you at the entrance of the terminal shown on your cruise documents. On disembarkation we agree a time based on your assigned slot and the driver waits at the terminal exit with a board showing your surname.

Frequently asked questions

How long from Milan to the port of La Spezia?+

From central Milan and from Linate about two and a half hours for 220 km in clear traffic; from Malpensa over three hours. The road down to the sea crosses the Cisa motorway, where fog and snow can slow things in winter, so we allow a margin.

Which quay does my ship use at La Spezia?+

The Largo Fiorillo terminal or Molo Garibaldi, depending on the ship. It is on your cruise documents — send it with your booking.

Can you visit the Cinque Terre by car?+

It is not worth it: the villages are closed or nearly closed to traffic, and the roads are narrow with no parking. You visit them by train from La Spezia Centrale or by boat from the harbour; the car is for getting to La Spezia and back.

Can you take us to Milan after disembarking?+

Yes — to the centre, your hotel, Linate or Malpensa. It is an on-request journey: send destination, date and flight time and we confirm before you book.

Is there room for cruise luggage?+

Tell us the number of people and suitcases when you book: with cruise luggage, a van is the sensible choice from three or four passengers.
